The ancient farm that had been standing on this site since 1789 saw its destiny transformed when the first mechanical ski lift – or rather, sleigh lift – began to operate on the slope right next to it in 1936.
The mountain chalet left its pastoral history behind, as the daughters of the family abandoned the milking shed and moved into the kitchen to serve up snacks to visitors enjoying the mountains – making this probably one of the oldest high-altitude restaurants in the world !!!
In 1948 the barn was converted into a few bedrooms and the rest is history…
Back in the old days, you counted sheep to help you get to sleep – nowadays, it is the comfort of this old chalet’s four star service that will ensure your nights are sweet… and your days too.
